Re: Linux in high schools.

Hello all, we have had a lot of exciting traffic on this thread. I have enjoyed
reading it and it is time I put my $.02 in.

So we have multiple (2 is multiple) people involved with linux and KLUG who are
also in positions of relative authority in school systems in this area.
Everyone is serious about it, but no one is capable of getting an organization
to kick the M$ habit, or even getting the schools to teach (or use) both OS's
side by side comparing and contrasting methods of accomplishing tasks.

We also have people willing to help. KLUG is about helping. Maybe we are not
succeeding as well as we could at teaching people how to use KLUG and the rest
of the linux community to get help. Personally I am willing to struggle a
little more than I should before asking for help. It always seems to me that by
writing an e-mail asking for assistance usually solves the mental block I was
having anyway.

OK I'm getting off track.

How can we get more specific and get actual components of this potentially
ongoing project organized. No wonderful magic carpets coming from me. I can
say that I am all for KLUG going forward with assisting any local public school
systems in an official capacity. I think we need help from those people asking
for help. We need to find out how we can be most helpful. Maybe some things
that would seem out of the question are possible. Possibly in a limited way at
first.
