I haven't tried VMware  on BSware _PRO_  but I suspect the error
is because VMware thinks it's a standard Redhat kernel, and is
install the modules for that, when in fact it's a modifed Redhat
kernel.  The modules have to match the kernel exactly.

I'd try installing the kernel source and building the modules
for VMware.  If that fails, you'll probably have to rebuild
the kernel and then build modules.

Also make sure you have the very latest VMware which does
support the 2.4 kernel.
