Indeed, Mike, it does seem so but appearences are deceiving. I offered
training sessions for LINUX, inclucing installing a more recent version on
an idle processor and regularly remind them of that offer. They are
interested but don't have enough time to take away from their putting out
fires.
Perhaps someone else could be more persuasive but I doubt it. I have some
credibility as the husband of a principal and have helped them on other
occasions and maintain the middle school website; however, that is not
enough. Now, if they were paying me, that would be different, but not
very since in that case, my primary responsibililty would be to maintain
the servers using LINUX, so the rest of the staff would learn only what
they have to about LINUX. The IT managers were both trained as librarians
and are slowly learning how to maintain systems.
