Re: Linux in high schools.

I am very serious about Link in a Education field. For those that do not
know I am the Technology Director for Sturgis Public Schools. I would like
to cut my budget (need to because we don't get that much money for Tech) and
use Linux instead of MS for everything.
There are many areas that I would like to use a Linux Server or system but,
there are many pitholes that prevent that from happening. This would be a
great opportunity for Linux Lovers that put their heads together and see if
we can not use more of the power in Linux computing.
I have started looking at a Linux Terminal Service for some of the old
machines. So, far I have found a organization that is developing and using a
Load for Red Hat 7.1 and Terminal Service (K12LTSP)
Last I was told, Win4Lin will have a server addition out this summer. The
K12LTSP will use that as part of their new image this summer. If all works
well, we will be able to use old computers as (thin clients) and process
everything off the Linux server. We will also have MS products applications
running on the Linux Server pushed to the thin clients.
As bad as I would like, I can not cut MS products out of this school yet.
(Thanks to the TTI).

I will watch this discussion board closely and would like to see what people
come up with for Linux at Schools.

Thank you,
