Re: Linux in high schools.



Well my hands are tied as far as applications. Thanks to TTI I have to have Office
2k running on the laptops and some of the computers here. I need to keep the same
environment here or I will confuse the teachers.
As far as MS lic, we have a school agreement already. It was the best option for
what we have to have and run here.
Now, what I was hoping to do was save money on the PC themselves. I already paid for
the licensees  to go and by new systems for each teacher and labs for the students
will kill us. If I can use the old computers or thin clients, then I save huge
amounts of money.
As time goes on and Linux applications are developed I can see Linux possibly be the
next desktop OS for this school and servers.
Now you can see why my hands are tied and why we have to make some of these
decisions.
