ximian install
Hi folks,
I'm trying to install ximian gnome 1.4 on my Red Hat 7.1 (vmware), 128 MB RAM, all RH updates are applied. Three times now I have tried and gotten the same result. It seg faults while removing upgraded packages (65 of 183) at 36% complete.
First time: ran the installer I downloaded a couple of weeks ago. Installed the files from web since I couldn't select a local directory. (argh)
Second: ran the installer I downloaded a couple of weeks ago. Installed the files from /var/cache/redcarpet/packages (I copied them all there from the CD I made a couple of weeks ago.) The install went faster, as it didn't have to download as many files. It looked like it grabbed only what had changed. (argh again)
Third: downloaded the installer fresh, installed from web, crash. (weeping and gnashing of teeth)
After each attempt, I reinstalled to be sure I was working with a clean environment.
So the third time, I figure hey, this definitely recreateable and worthy of submitting a bug. So click the link that takes me to the gnome bug form on the web, fill in the details, and submit it. I'm feeling pretty about this. I'm helping them in the development process with valuable feedback and details. Then I get an automated email from halloween@widget.gnome.org that says, "Our old bug tracking system is currently down due to some hardware problems and I have no idea how long it will take to bring it back or whether it'll ever come back at all."
Argh. Weep. Gnash. Etc.
Any pointers in the right direction are appreciated.
