2.4.5 kernel install
Well I downloaded the 2.4.5 source code, and walked through the
configure scrips much like i have for every other kernel.
The compile went flawlessley and so I started to edit my lilo conf and
give it a whirl.
I threw in to my lilo.conf one lable for my old 2.2 (failsafe) and one
for the new 2.4 kernel.
when I try to load the 2.4 kernel i get your standard 'Uncompressing
Linux........"
and then it sits there. There is a little bit of hard drive activity
for a while but no messages i'm so used to scrolling up to let me know
what hardware it's found and other stuff like that (the normal sign it's
working).
I'm sort of at a loss here right now mainly because every other time
I've done a kernel upgrade it's gone smoothly. Can anyone out there
give me an idea as to what to check?
My box:
P2-300 128mgs Ram
Slackware 7.1
intel i710 video card 8mgs Ram
1 6gig maxtor drive
1 7gig Samsung drive (root partition takes up full drive except for
about 250mgs swap)
Thanks in advance
