The "easy" answer:
   fdisk -y /dev/hdXY

Where "/dev/hdXY" is the device that needs to be repaired.  The "-y"
option will force it to answer "yes" to fixing anything.

Linux/UNIX is very "conservative" when it comes to fixing things. 
If it detects _any_ "issue" that cannot be resolved 100% perfect, it
forces you to manually tell it to do it.  It's not like 9x/ME's
ScanDisk or NT/2000's ChkDsk which are "overly aggressive" IMHO.
