Minutes for the KLUG meeting of 1-11-98

Meeting Start Time: Sunday, January 11, 1998 at 3:45pm in the Upjohn
Building number 298 in Portage.

At around 3:20 or so, we all met in the lobby of The Upjohn building number
298. We were greeted by Chris, who led us up to a board room where the
meeting was held. For the next twenty minutes or so, while we waited for
other members to show up, we played with the audiovisual equipment trying
to get it to work with Bruce's Linux laptop. It kind of worked on one
particular graphics setting, but never really looked as good as we wanted
it to. This may be the fault of the projector, as it looked blurry on the
screen. For whatever reason it didn't work, we didn't want to mess up any
of Upjohn's stuff, so we pretty much left stuff alone.

The meeting then came to some resemblance of order around 3:45pm. We
discussed our change in meeting location, and decided that Upjohn is a nice
place to meet, but we need a backup meeting place for when an Upjohn
employee can not attend the meeting. I am trying to find out if the KVCC
library has a meeting room we can use, and I will be getting back with all
of you as soon as I know.

Bob brought up a point about our group needing to get more organized, and
we threw around some ideas on ways to do that. Bob actually has written up
a letter that he will be sending out to us all expressing his views on our
situation. We didn't feel that we should make any decisions for the rest
of the group while there was so few of us attending the meeting. We
decided to discuss it online, and make our decision there.

Scott requested help on setting up a LAN between two computers, and Bruce
gave a little presentation on how to accomplish that.

A new topic was added to our list of suggested presentation topics:
"Building menus for X". If anyone has knowledge in this area, please come
forward and present it to us.

The meeting ended at about 4:45pm. Please keep a lookout for Bob's
letter, and express your views on it to the group. We need to get rolling
is this area. Hope to see you all at the next meeting
