bochs x86 emulator.

At the last meeting I mentioned something about a new(?) x86 emulator that
claims to be able to boot win95, minix and other x86 operating systems
from inside linux.

its more than that. its all software emulation, so it compiles and
emulates on any unix based system. Beyond that, it also works on BeOS and
there is a java port in the works.

the best i can tell, you can use it free if you are only an individual
(and source is on an ftp site.)
