Anouncement: New speaker for our next meeting.
Anouncement:
I will be making a presentation at our next meeting about
the new XFree86 wrapper security fix available from Redhat.
The reason for this presentation is because I've had various
results installing this update. Sometimes the symbolic links,
and/or the SUID permissions do not install correctly and must
be manually fixed to allow X Windows to run.
This will be of special interest to Redhat (and possibly other
distributions) users who like to keep up on the latest updates.
This is also will interest people who ask me to make a copy of the
Redhat 5.0 CD for them, since these updates are incorporated on my CD.
As background to understanding how to fix this problem, I will
be talking about X Windows program locations, symbolic links and
Unix file permissions/security with special attention given to
SUID (Set User ID) programs. This is non-Redhat specific and
applies to all Linux distributions.
Get your taxes done early, because I hope to see you there on 4/14/98!
