Assuming you can do the hardware install (get master/slave
switch settings correct), Linux will recognize it without
doing anything special.
To use it in Linux, just partition it (fdisk), format
the partition(s) (mke2fs), and mount them either manually
(mount), or automatically on boot (add to /etc/fstab).
Let me know if you need more detail.
If you don't feel comfortable doing any of this, feel free to
bring the PC to a meeting had we'll be glad to do it for you.
