Public Contact Opportunity
Fellow Klugites -
We have an agreement with the owner of "Super Computer Sales"; we placed
a link to his website on our links page, and he provides us with space for
literature, and a table, time and space permitting.
This Saturday there is a sale at the county fairgrounds, which is a
PRIMO opportunity to make contact with some of the people most likely to be
interested in Linux. Not only can we place flyers about our group (and the
upcoming installfest) on a literature table, but if we can have a table, we
can answer questions live and in-person. With the growing interest in Linux
that we've seen in recent weeks, there should be a lot of questions, and it
might encourage people if we could put in an appearence, with some real live
Linux users. [!!]
To do this, we need some volunteers to stand a ta table and answer
general questions about Linux, and generally encourage people to look at
our web site, look at our flyers, consider our installfest, but most of all,
to think seriously about Linux as an operating system that will help THEM.
The show runs from 10:00AM to 3:00 PM, and it's not reasonable to expect
anyone to stay at the table for the whole time. There's no requirement that
we have people there the ENTIRE time, but it would be nice to get a few people
willing to put in an hour or two. I will contribute a couple of hours, a 15'
monitor and my wunnerful easel. I will also make final arrangements with the
show owner, and print up some flyers as designed by Rick Knowlton and Adam
Williams. If someone can bring a linux machine it would be WONDERFUL, bit it's
not nessesary.
