drives over 2 gigs
yeah, i know i ask to many questions, but i've got another one that i've
never been able to answer.
ok i have a 6.4gb IBM deskstar drive, i used the osr2 version of fdisk to
format it, one partition 4.4 gigs for win95/dos, the rest, 2gb for slackware
linux.
is there a way i can be able to install lilo on the boot sector of the first
partition? everytime i try, it of course says it's over the limit of 1024
cylinders. i've heard that it is possible to get lilo installed on a drive
over 2gb, but it wasn't reccomended, if i remember right.
oh yeah, another problem, which maybe is why it can't be installed to it,
it's not fat32, but FAT32X. from the research i've done, this is mostly used
for drives over 8gb, and on a fat32x drive, the boot sector is supposedly
put at the end of the drive, which kinda makes it difficult to add some sort
of boot manager.
i've tried to reformat this partition, but i had no luck in just getting a
regular fat32 partition, always comes up as fat32X. and with this fat32x,
partition magic doesn't let me do anything to it at all, so i can't resize
it.
i'm guessing, and hoping it's because of osr2, well maybe not.
if anyone has any suggestions, let me know, thanks.
