I don't think anyone doubts that Slackware is one of the Major Linux Distribs.

But why? Unstable code, or you don't have any fat32 filesystems for Linux to
munch on. I'm running on a kernel (right now!) that has NO SCSI support.
That's 'cuz my machine has no SCSI devices. One can do this sort of thing
on purpose....
