AFAIK, it involves checking with the changelog in the slackware or
slakware directories, I did read about an automated update notifier, but
no firsthand experience

Some time ago I tried to go with glibc and my experience matched his,
but I am more knowledgable now maybe it would be easier, but I'm in no
hurry to get with glibc.
