Linux installs at tonight's meeting
Just an update to let everyone know what's happening at tonight's meeting.
We will be doing at least two Linux installs.
One with be a standard Redhat 5.1 install from CDROM.
The other install will be on one of the Compaq 486 PC's recently purchased
by some KLUG members. This PC does NOT have a CDROM drive, so we will
install a LAN card in this PC and network it to my laptop, and do a network
install of Redhat 5.1 using the CD drive on my laptop as the source.
Time permitting, we will also demo some networking features of Linux
such as, how easily we can setup functions like: Web server, FTP server,
NFS (Network file system), telnet, ping, remote shell commands . . . etc.
This will be a very good meeting to attend if you're interested in Networking.
And don't forget to place your Pizza order by sending email to: bob@acm.org
