XFree86 on a Compaq Presario

Ok, due to much help from Usenet and some from this newsgroup I have got
800x600x256 on a Compaq Presario 433 with the integrated monitor and 5420
chipset.  I also have it running on a Compaq Presario 520.  My question is, if
their is some central repository of XF86Config files I can sent these two to in
order to spare someone in the future this shear agony?

Also,  the Cirrus 5420 supports some linear frame buffer mode for which I have
to specify a base address.  Does anyone know what this is about?  I've played
around with it an seem to be pretty good at locking up X.  Without the "linear"
option X works ok,  but I'm curious if I can squeeze out a little more
performance,
