FW: Seeking advice about Linux UPS solution

I was wondering if anyone else got this email. From what I understood from
the email headers this email was sent to linkmaster@klug.armintl.com.

My ideas were to somehow advertise on http://slashdot.org/ and
http://www.freshmeat.net/ and to get a print ad in Linux Journal. One other
good idea would to be to email the maintainer of the Linux Hardware HOWTO
and tell him that this UPS already has software from the vendor. And also
see if there are any specific pages only about Linux UPS's and tell them
about this product.

If no-one else got this email, I will collect the ideas and send a response
back to this person.

Subject: Seeking advice about Linux UPS solution

I have noticed that a lot of Linux community consultants, resellers, and
users have had difficulties with the issue of Linux software for UPSs.

I am seeking advice about how to best let the Linux community know that UPS
monitoring and automatic shutdown software is available as a free download
for use with Fenton uninterrruptible power supplies. I thought it would be
useful for the Linux community to know that at least one very simple and
effective UPS software solution is available to them (and of course it
doesn't hurt that the UPSs themselves are low cost too).

Would you recommend that we do banner advertising on certain Linux web
sites, do print advertising in certain Linux publications, monitor certain
Linux newsgroups to see if people are looking for UPS software solutions,
or is there some other means of letting the Linux community know about the
availability of this useful and free Fenton UPS solution for Linux?

Thanks for your help and advice.

By the way, if you want to see what were are talking about, the UPS
software for Linux downloads and manuals are at
ftp://megatec.com.tw/Rups2/UNIX/v3.01 and the Fenton web site information
is at http://www.fentonups.com/index2.htm

Sincerely,

Dan Rothman
