PPP Bugs?

Does anyone know if diald works works with Redhat 5.1 (BS-Ware),  or even
if the control-panel cirrectly sets up a ppp interface.  I created the ppp
interface with control-panel and it dials and fails with an "invalid login"
eventhough I know it is the correct user/passwd (I tried in manually).  I
can see the invalid login from the ISP in /var/log/messages.  I am completely
baffled.  Just wondering if anyone knew of any bugs, or if it something I
have done/failed to do?

P.S.  For some reason an upgrade using BS-Ware thrashed (I mean bad) my machine
to the point where any attempt to remove an RPM (It said I had portmap 
installed three time) resulted in a segmenation fault.  I got a lot
of "Failure in script execution" at the end of package installs during the
upgrade.  There was disk space, etc... Didn't manage to narrow down the cause.
Ended up doing a install and wiping out the system paritions (but everthing
juicy was in /home & /usr/local anyway.
