No hardware changes in the last 6 months.

ISA Western Digital 8013 in shared memory mode, same one I've been using with
this system since I built it.
> Do any networking services work after the problem starts?
All my xterms, and netscape session keep running and I can start more with it
seeming to have any problem. Of course the fact that in.tftpd is hung
eventually causes applications to have problems loading fonts, etc... (all
these apps run on X-terminal attached via ethernet)
> Does "top" show anything unusual?
I had top running last time it happened. Everything looked normal. No
swapping the CPU was mostly idle.

Recompiled from the same source that came with 5.1. I have to recompile it to
get it to find my sound card and Cyclades board.

Good idea. Now I just have to figure out what to search for.
