Linux LAN for non-profit
Hi everyone,
I work for a non-profit agency, maybe you've heard of it... Green
Thumb. We are an employment/training service for people 55+
who are low income. We're starting a project in the Kalamzoo area
for seniors to get certified in various computer programs, so we can
help them get good jobs! (They don't pay any fees for this, btw, it's
mainly funded by the Dept. of Labor.).
The Director of the State agency here is trying to get a grant so we
can set up a computer center/room over there (10 computers and 1
server), so we can train people in Kalamazoo, and asked me what I
thought should be used. I haven't used Linux yet, myself, but I
have heard a lot about it, read a lot about it, etc. and suggested
that that's what we put on the LAN there.
Basically what we need, though, is someone in that area that Can
set up the LAN. I probably could, after a bit of study, but I'd rather
watch this first time :) If you or someone you know is good at this
sort of thing, run a business, or even do it privately, could you
please contact me? If you're interested in helping out a worthy
organization we'd Love to accept it as a contribution *grin* but we
are planning to ask for some money in the grant to pay for a
consultant.
Let me know if you have any ideas? Thanks!
Krista Landon,
Green Thumb, MI.
P.S. Could someone tell me how to setup a boot menu so I could
run Linux on my home machine as well as Win95?
