You might, hopefully not, but you might have what is known as a
WinModem, which doesn't work with Linux, or anything except Win95/98,
not even NT, or 3.xx.
If this is the case you will need a different modem. Another similar
problem could be a plug and play modem , you can tell by the fact that
there are no jumpers on the modem or modem card. There is hope for you
in this case, look for isapnptools,which is designed to help plug and
play hardware be identified so it can be used.
