fixed my problem............ the modem had decides to run and hide 
(something moved it to a differnt port) ........ so i moved it back to 
2f8 (aka com2... cua1... etc) ....... and guess what.. it worked :)  i 
can't believe i didn't see that earlier tho :) ......... 
anywayz..........   the vid card......... STB Velocity 4400 with 16 megs 
and TVout.... nVidia Riva TNT.... (.35 microm something like 6 or 7 
million transistor.... at like 125 mhz or something around there) 150 
mhz ramdac.... ummm........ REALLLLLLY good 3d accel. under OpenGL :)   
...... and not bad under d3d either if anyone cares :) ..... umm... 
reatil price is like 170.... i've seen the STB's as low as 135 or 
something mail order.... and creative labs with tsame amount of ram and 
same chipset for like 110...... :) i like it.... they just wrote support 
into the SVGA server instead of writing an nVidia server.... (nVidia 
helped/gave code.... so ya know.... it's partially an oem driver)  :)  
yah... nvidia was working with xfree86 to get their chips to run right 
:) ...... 


ohh well......... it works :)
