Compile the new kernel or not?

Hi everyone,

I am really new to linux (3 months old) , but I'm trying to keep up to
date so I have a question....


I currently have Red Hat 5.2 with kernel 2.0.36 and am thinking of
updating the kernel. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to whether
this would be a good idea (from that last post i'm gettin a little
worried.) or not and just wait for a packaged version, but what would be
the fun in that...  (from that last post i'm gettin a little worried.)
