If your're bringing a machine next Tuesday...
If you're bringing a machine to next Tuesday's meeting please let us know. We
need to ensure there are adequate facilities.
It is also helpful if you say what you want to have accomplished, like "Have
Linux installed" or "Get X-Windows working better", etc... Please include as
much information about your system as possible. If you have M$-Windoze running
on your box already this information can be gathered from the Control Panel
application.
Important facts might be:
Type of modem, and what serial port it lives on.
Type of Video Card (as much information as possible please)
Any other operating systems installed.
Size of hard drive(s) and how it/they are partioned.
If possible the refresh rates Windows uses when driving your monitor at
diffrent resolutions and color depths.
If you are installing Linux for the first time, the video card information is
probably the most important. You really need to get as much information as
possible, even opening the case and writing down the words/numbers printed on
the chip(s) sometimes helps. Of course you can only do that if your video card
is not integrated on the motherboard.
If you want a copy of BS-Ware for you're very own the cost is $2.00 and you
MUST notify us in advance. You can find information about who to contact on
our website (http://klug.armintl.com).
If you have other operating systems installed please backup whatever is
important to you, as things CAN go wrong.
