I've had very good luck with Linksys network cards and Linux.
In fact, Linksys says "Ready to run with Linux", right on the box!

I've used both Linksys ISA 10BT NE2000 compatible, and their 10/100
cards with excellent results in Linux. They also make kits, with
2 cards and a hub. www.buy.com had the best prices online for
single cards a couple weeks ago when I last looked.

I don't have any experience with Netgear, sorry.
