supported, but would like to use it for more than 16 colors.)
this is supported i think with the latest version of the XSuSE server, this
it's just a g200 card with added features.
in my opinion, matrox cards are the best 2d cards you can get. I'm sure
there are better cards out but i don't feel like paying fifty extra dollars
for a new 3d feature I'll never use. oh wow. 5 more FPS in quake! big deal.
i mean I'll use a voodoo2 card if i wanted to play games.
>Sound Blaster Live! (again, I don't expect ALL the bells and whistles,
just functional sound.)
that's the same card i have in my system. in windows, it's pretty amazing,
especially with 4 speakers, but in linux it's useless. i don't think any
games for linux are going to support EAX anytime soon.
I've got to say it makes the awe64 sound like crap. i guess if you don't
care about sound quality, like most people then any $15 card will do.
heck, drivers aren't even available, i read that it's going to be supported
in OSS sometime soon. and unfortunately you can't even just use
generic sb16 audio, since it needs drivers just to get that support in DOS.
for windows, it's the best you can buy, in my opinion, if you play games,
but for linux i wouldn't recommend it unless you can wait a few months.
I'm almost about ready to just buy some cheap $15 card until i get drivers
for it.
but i hate to say it, when i play games i use windows. that's why i keep it
installed. that is until i can get my voodoo2 card working under linux with
glquake.
i don't know if it's just me or what, but windows has got to be the worst
OS to play games in. i don't think I've played a single game that hasn't
crashed once.
I'm sure glad more games are coming out for linux. like half life and
heretic II. a good page to check out is http://www.linuxgames.com
>Internal Zip drive.
I've used the external and internal versions, no problems at all with them.
you just need to compile in support for them.
of course zip drives are useless if you have a huge drive.
>the only other thing that wouldn't be standard might be a SCSI interface,
but I haven't decided if the performance is worth the bucks.
yeah, I'm thinking about going with SCSI myself, since the new board I'm
getting has a wide ultra2 scsi connector on it.
i just don't know if it's worth it. 500 for a good scsi 9gb hard drive is
kind of a lot.
I've heard about this udma/66, but the thing is, what motherboards support
this?! i haven't really seen any of the drives out yet.
I can't believe how cheap drives are now...17.6gb for $300. that's what i
paid for my 6.4gb IBM in jan of 1998.
