Hardware Compatibility
Well, this list seems quiet today, let's see if we can't stir things up a little.
I'm considering building a new system for myself, and would like to try and make sure it is Linux compatible. I know a lot of my fellow users out there could probably tell me yes or no to certain pieces of hardware, but my first question would be, where can I find this information myself? I looked at the KLUG website, but tend to run my browser without pictures for speed, and some minor crashes I get with (this blasted) internet explorer. of the links I browsed, none really screamed "hardware compatibility list!"
second, I will list some of the hardware I'm looking at and give you folks a chance to giggle and point your finger at the screen in utter derision.
AMD K6-2 processor (probably 350 or 400 MHz)
Epox MVP3G-M Motherboard (as recommended by www.anandtech.com)
128Meg of RAM
Matrox Marvel G200 TV Video Card. (I don't expect the TV out to be supported, but would like to use it for more than 16 colors.)
Sound Blaster Live! (again, I don't expect ALL the bells and whistles, just functional sound.)
Internal Zip drive.
the only other thing that wouldn't be standard might be a SCSI interface, but I haven't decided if the performance is worth the bucks.
thanks for the help.
