I've got the same starter kit.  Try getting the updated Tulip driver.  I think
the more recent kernels have it already, but it is not in 2.0.35, and I am not
sure about any above that(except 2.2.X, it's in there.)  I think there is a
link to it from www.linksys.com/nos/Linux (or something like that, you can get
to their linux page through tech support page or soemthing, I think.
