Logging into the server is not the problem. I have set the Win98 machine to
send passwords in plain text. I discoverd this during the upgrade. I can
access the server, see files and print. But loading files from the server
is where I'm having a problem.

Can't do that. There are some nicer things in Win98, but the real reason is
the plug and play support is MUCH better. I added a 3D graphics board
(Creative Labs VooDoo2) to my machine and Win95 freaked out, becomming very
unreliable (random lockups etc.). Win98 resolved all of the stability
problems I was having. Aside from the Samba issue, It is rock solid now.
