Ok, here's the scoop.... 

Let me give you a "fer instance". I have a lot of scanned images I store on
the server (JPEG, BMP etc.). In Windows 95 I could see the files in Windows
Explorer, click on it and Microsoft Photo Editor would launch and load the
file. If I try this on my Win98 machine, 3 out of 5 files will not load,
instead (after hanging for a minute or so) an error is returned stating
Error loading file: file of unknown type. Another example. At random times
if I try to copy a file from the server to my Win98 machine, It will freeze
until the operation times out, and I'm left with a 0 byte file on my hard
drive. Off hand I don't remember what the error message returned is.

As I stated before, my Win95 and WFW311 PC's do not have these problems.
