pppd progress

The subject of PPP was brought up at the KLUG meeting tonight.  I am
still deficient in that area, so I thought I'd open up for assistance...

Basically, I can dial up an get an IP address, but var/log/messages
indicates that it is "not replacing default route at etho
[198.162.0.1]".

I'm sorry I didn't capture the entire log, but I think my problem lies
in that one area...  can anybody help?
