Yes, and no. What specific application do you need? An equivalent to almost
any app in Windows is available for Linux, if you need one specific app it may
be a bigger deal. There is DOSEMU which is a VERY GOOD emulation of the MS-DOS
system, it even runs DOS games like X-Wing with sound and graphics, the whole
kit and kaboodle. Don't use it any more but had great luck with it years ago.
For windows there is WINE which has support for alot of Win16 stuff and some
Win32 stuff, and even things like OLE are coming online. But I haven't tried
it in awhile, and found it very poor (almost a year ago) but reports from
others have been quite positive. I've heard from honest people about it
hosting Office (though that is a sick and twisted idea). There are also things
like Bochs and VM-Ware which run the entire OS in a VM on linux. But in the
end I recommend migrating to Linux or Java apps, there just a better solution.
