velocity 440 and X problems/can it work?

I just put in my velocity 440 and tryed the Riva128 server for X like my 
friend online said to. The only thing is that it will only work in 8bpp 
and in 640x480 screen res. Any one have any idea what I am doing wrong, 
it should be able to handle 32bpp and 1024x724 res. *shrug* any one that 
has it working please help me heh ;)
