Newbe Linux install

This is about my 6th attempt to install Redhat's linux. Starting with Redhad 5.0, 5.1 and now 5.2.

Below is a list of the procedure that I have used.

 

Installed dos on WD 850 mb drive

Fdisked drive 2 conner 1.gig and deleted partition

Installed windows 95 on drive 1

Made drive 2 a dos partition with fdisk

Deleted partion 2 with partition magic to prep for linux instal

Attempted to install on drive D:

/home	Hdc7	200M	200M	Linux Native

/usr/local	Hdc6	250 406M growable	206M	Linux native

System then created swap from hdc8

Diagnostic messages.....

Making ext filesystem on /dev/hdc7

ftp package failed installing to /home

system crashed
