I just bought a 56k 3com-USR faxmodem at best buy, It's ISA and PNP but
it's not a winmodem, It works great, as for winmodems there can't be an
external one because winmodems don't have a UART and use software instead.
So where would you plug it in? and as for newcom modem's DON'T buy them
they are junk, I had both a USR and a newcom 33.6 internal modem's, the USR
was much faster. And also what i have found is that PCI modems are not
faster in anyway then ISA modems like the manufactures say.
