Runs in Linux, AFAIK. Something called typhoon used to ship (at least) with 
some Linux distributions, don't know if that's still happening, but that's 
an RDBMS, not an NNTP server.

This has been alleged, no persoanl experience. A LOT of these judgements
depend on the volume you're going to carry. I've never heard anything BAD
about Typhoon; people who cuss out INND are simply not used to patching or 
hacking source instead of working with config files. I use something called
NNTPCACHE, which may or may not be suitable for you. If you can describe your
traffic load it would help.
