Hi folks,
I finally have Red Hat 6.0 running on my laptop. I even have X configured
and gnome working. I have two pcmcia devices: modem and network card. The
modem works fine, but the NIC is really giving me a fit.
Watching the boot messages fly by, I can see that cpmcia services are
starting, I can hear the beeps, but initialization of the eth0 interface
fails. However, if I run ifconfig, eth0 appears to be up and running fine.
Looking at the speed indicator on the dongle, the 100 MB light is on, which
is fine because it is indeed plugged into a 100 MB port. BUT, the light on
the hub is not lit up, so it doesn't think there is a connection.
I'm trying to make this work with a Micron Trek 2, PII-366, and a 3COM 3C574
pcmcia 10/100 card. Any pointers in the right direction would be great.
FWIW, I've checked dejanews, altavista, and Clark Ritchie's page (he has a
page dedicated to my exact laptop and how he got Linux running on it). I
think I might be able to make it next Tuesday after my final exam for the
last half of the meeting, but I won't know until that night. So maybe I
could just bring it with me then.
