If you can display a man page on pppd, you probably have it installed.
The program and the man page are both part of the same RPM package.

Thank You once I knew this I went to root and it worked as NetLink said it
would.
Problem was using su to access root, Had to login as root.

How are you starting pppd? Just typing "pppd" from a command line?
As root or a non-root user? As it ships from Redhat, "pppd" requires
itself to be started from root. If you try it from a non-root account
it won't find it because it's not in the path, and it won't run even
if you give it the full path name.

Look in /usr/sbin for the "pppd" program. i.e.

   ls -l /usr/sbin/pppd
  -rwsr-sr-x 1 root root 120020 Apr 9 23:33 /usr/sbin/pppd

If you can get it working as root, let me know, and I'll show you
how to change things so it works from a non-root user account.
(one step at a time)
After all this when the modem did call out I got a NO CARRIER. May be
problem with dns address I will check tomorrow. using address from 6 months
ago. For prodigy.net. May simply be new numbers. To late now. Thanks for the
ear time.

I also tried in Networking thru Xwindow--- Same result.
