KDE bs/del

this is a relatively minor problem, but it's been pretty frustrating since
i just can't find a way to fix it: after replacing a dud harddrive, i
reinstalled KDE from my backup, and now the BS and DEL keys both give DEL
behavior.  this is true in kmail, kedit, netscape, and seemingly anything
else that uses a graphical component, but *not* in xterm, where everything
works just fine.  any suggestions?
