Meeting - August 10th

Pattern Matching

Pattern matching can be thought of as using a greatly expanded
"wildcard" set to represent arguments, regular expressions, and strings.
In conjunction with sed, awk or the shell, can be used to add,
substitute, delete text in a file or search for a file according to
patterns specified at the command line. "ls", and most of the basic unix
commands can use the patterns to do their jobs with great efficiency.

Mike List is a native of Kalamazoo, MI, and knows a fair amount about
multitasking systems from parenting four of his own kids and a foster son,
who help keep things from getting too boring. Other KLUG members are amused
(so he thinks) at his accounts of non-Linux adventures. Mike also wrote a
column for new users, "Clueless at the Prompt" featured semi-regularly in
the Linux Gazette, and has served KLUG in various capacities.

Coming to three meetings qualifies you as a full member of KLUG, meaning that
you can participate in the process of making formal decisions, including vot-
ing for officers.
