The ESS Solo-1 card is supported by ALSA, see http://www.alsa-project.org

I don't know if this card is supported by the free OSS software that currently 
ships with the kernel. The OSS commercial site (http://www.opensound.com) lists
the Solo-PCI, but has additional notes for this card.
