Meeting - August 24st
Proper Use of MetaTags in HTML Documents
Everyone seems to know how to create HTML documents, but many do not know
how to properly use MetaTags. We will explore what MetaTags are for, many of
the different options available and how some search engines use them for
indexing. Effective use of these tags will allow your web site to be more
accurately categorized by search engines, which in turn allows you to
reach your desired audience. Come along and see how to improve the impact
of your web site.
Hank has been a self-employed webmaster/consultant for the past 3 1/2 years
working with companies as small as single person operations to 20,000 member
credit unions. All web sites he has done are hosted on either Linux or
FreeBSD boxes. His first computer was an OSI C1-P (Z80 based) computer in
1981. Internet experience piled up starting in 1986, with to access the
Atari newsgroups to find help with his new 520ST. A fairly new user of
Linux at home, Hank has a member of KLUG since Feb. '99, and until
recently headed the web site project on behalf of KLUG for the Michigan
Polio Network.
