RE: Old Compaq Server



Cheap is fine w/ me!
I hit the web site & ordered one of the 4X drive.  I can't imagine it would 
make any difference either.  Only time I'll use it is for loading OS, etc. 
 A few minutes more or less isn't gonna hurt a thing.

To be honest the $14.75+S&H drive is only a 4x.  A "modern" drive costs 
more,
 but on a 486 I can't image it would make that much diffrence.

Except most of the time they ship "ground", irregardless of what you tell 
them.

SCSI costs only a hair more than IDE these days,  the rumor of it bieng
expensive is no longer true.  And to hear your U/W-SCSI-III drives spin up 
when
you boot the machine is a beautiful experience.
