I understand all of that, and you have my heartfelt sympathy, but what I'm
trying to point out is that things ain't nearly as bad as they used to be.
In disk storage at least, prices have fallen by a factor of several HUNDRED 
over the past five years. The prices we're "complaining" about would have
been considered MIRACULOUS in 1993. If you can't afford something today, you
wouldn't have had a PRAYER of buying anything CLOSE to what you have now in
the old days.. you know... when Perot was running for President, and that
Artist was still called "Prince".
