Re: SMB installation

ok... however.... what you said you wanted to do.. and how you intend to do
it are not the same thing.... if you want to install from a different
location on the same harddrive what you actually want is the "harddrive"
install media option (or something along those general lines) i know it's
there in at least rh and suse.... doing an SMB install would mean having the
install files on another machine and installing over the network using the
SMB protocol.... if that is what you really wanted to do than i
misunderstood you and i apologize... but it sounded more like the files were
already in another partition on the same machine and you wanted to use those
right?

Hello, I'm an enthusiastic Linux Newbie.

I have two systems running Linux-Mandrake6.0 currently, and I'm
just getting started. They are both dual-boots with Windows 98 on
one, and 95 on the other.

I'm trying to get a third going... it's a Compaq Contura 640C laptop.
I need to install from a DOS partition on the same hard drive as
the partition I intend to use for Linux. I've seen in the
documentation some mention of a "second boot disk" for a SMB
installation that will allow me to do this, however, I cannot find the
image file for that disk either online or on the CD that I am installing
the distribution from

Anyone have any ideas/info?

Tnx.
Tim
