Printing in Gimp

OK, it looks like I'll have more time to devote to really using my Linux box
again and my first project is being able to print from Gimp.

My setup is (no rude comments please.. :) ) is I have a shared printer
hooked up to my Windoze box through my network. I can print to it from Star
Office and all my other programs on the Linux box.

But in Gimp, the "print" option is grayed out, so I can not even attempt to
print directly to it. I can "print to file" and then send that file to the
printer and have it print, but that is such a pain and doesn't give me any
control of the output. I would think I should be able to print directly from
Gimp.

I have looked at the HowTos and I have asked in the Gimp newsgroup, but
haven't found the answers in either place. If anyone has any ideas, I'll
give them a try.
