I've been lurking on this list for several months.  I
use windows at work, no choice.  I use Linux at home. 
I am a contractor, a network engineer, and a
programmer.  I installed a linux on a 133 mhz pentium,
with 32 megs of memory and a new 10 gig hard drive. 
It is a file server and an internet router.  One
network card goes to a isdn line and one network card
goes to the internal hub.  We installed it in April. 
It still is working and has never been rebooted.  My
contact with the company has added several new users,
new groups for a bookkeeping program.  0 maintenance. 
For the small engineering company (30 employs) This is
truly a great deal.  I don't think there is anyway
that all of this could be done in windows.  So for
that outfit Linux has been a great deal.
