You might also want to 'limit' logging to the aforementioned file by
putting restrictions within syslog.conf (otherwise the records you get
from the router might be copied to /var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog)

My syslog.conf file looks something like this:


*.=info;*.=notice;Local1.none                   /var/log/messages 
*.err;Local1.none                               /var/log/syslog

Local1.*                                        /var/log/router.log  


Also, make sure to restart syslogd with the -r flag (for remote)
